YLP37 - Ullambana of Filial Gratitude and Blessings

◈ Today, I make offerings to the Sangha during Ullambana on behalf of my parents, relatives, friends, and myself, in gratitude for their kindness, and I invite others to join. Each offering multiplies merits a hundred thousand times over!

💫 Induction :
When Venerable Maudgalyāyana (Moggallāna) sought to rescue his mother who had fallen into the realm of hungry ghosts, the Buddha instructed him to prepare an offering. On the day when the Sangha concludes their summer retreat, he was to place the four requisites—robes, food, bedding, and medicine—into a vessel and make offerings to the Sangha of the ten directions. Through the power of this meritorious act of offering, his mother was instantly liberated from suffering and ascended to the Trāyastriṃśa Heaven.

💫 Merits Accumulated by Donors
The donations are utilized to: Support monastery construction, ensuring the preservation and spread of the Dharma.

💫 Blessings and Dedications
☘️The monastery will prepare an Ullambana Bowl for each donor, with a packet of rice placed inside. This symbolizes supporting the Sangha’s sustenance, bringing abundant food and clothing in future lives, with blessings and happiness without end.
☘️ Various offerings will also be placed in the Ullambana Bowl, enabling donors to receive favorable conditions for Dharma learning in every lifetime.
☘️ Monastery will specially design and create a “Offering Ullambana Bowl” card with the donor’s name written on it, to be placed in the bowl as part of the offering to the Sangha.
☘️ The merit from offering the Ullambana Bowl, supporting the Sangha, building the temple, and participating in the Dharma assembly will be dedicated to donors: “May your blessings and wisdom increase, may you enjoy abundance and happiness in every life, and may you swiftly realize Bodhi.”

♦️ Note: After the puja completion day on September 6, the Sangha will accept the Ullambana offerings and perform blessings. Donors may collect their Ullambana Bowl at the counter before 2:00 PM on the same day to share with their families. Bowls not collected by then will be respectfully handled by the Monastery.
