JS03 - Offering to the Great Pagoda
JS03 - Offering to the Great Pagoda
🔸The pagoda means a place of high merit. The pagoda represents the merit of the Buddha's mind - the Dharmakaya. Seeing the pagoda is like seeing the Buddha.
🔸"Mahasanghika Vinaya": "Hundreds of thousands of dan of real gold, used for charity, are not as good as a lump of mud, used with respect to build a pagoda." Building and worshipping a pagoda with piety and respect has infinite merits compared to donating hundreds of thousands of dan of gold.
🔸Building a pagoda is extremely powerful. It is a special method to purify sins and accumulate vast merits and resources. It can fully benefit the boundless suffering sentient beings and enable oneself and others to attain the perfect and happy Bodhi path.
🔸In the Parables Sutra, the Buddha talked about ten kinds of wonderful rewards of building pagodas: not being born in a remote area; not being poor; not being foolish and having wrong views; having a long life; being able to obtain the throne of a great country; being strong and healthy; being able to obtain incomparable and vast blessings; being blessed by the compassion of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas; being fully endowed with the Three Wisdoms, Six Supernatural Powers, and Eight Liberations; being able to be reborn in the Pure Lands of the Ten Directions.
🔸Whether you build a pagoda yourself or teach others to build one, you can achieve great merits and blessings, bring great merits to yourself and others, and accomplish your spiritual practice! We sincerely invite everyone to join us in the special act of offering to the pagoda!
